happy birthday kylie :)

i made this little minky tag blanket for my friend's daughter who's turning one today. i'm not quite finished with it, but i thought i'd show it off :) and here's a spiderman one that i'm working on too. these things are sooo soft and kids LOVE them! i'm going to make a star wars one next!! oh and i bought some really great geisha fabric that i plan on doing something with. not sure what yet... man, i really need to find my niche and stick with it. i swear, i have crafter's A.D.D.

those other two kids ;)

poor michael and sam get left out of my blog a lot. it's not that i love them less; it's just that generally they aren't running amuck like the two little monkey faced babies do... so here's a shot of those other kids that live here. i love them and they are growing up way too fast!

bad blogger.

since the move i've been a super huge slacker about blogging. part of it is because blogging is a luxury where i get to just stop and unload my mind about what's going on or what i'm thinking about. well, since the move, i've had about a kabillion other projects in the work (including the actual move itself) school, thrift store, my dad's visit, school, and well, just the other mundane day to day stuff. honestly, i haven't felt too much like blogging... not for any reason in particular, but more so just the every day buisiness and tiredness that follows.
well, nonno left yesterday (which made the kids really sad, regardless of my repeat reasurrance that he would be back in my AND bring nonna!) and it's raining and i don't have to work today. so today is just going to be a really really lazy day. where we stay inside, and don't work. and just watch tv. did you catch all that unneccesary punctuation? that's right! today is a day of periods. the stopping kind. not the girl kind. i'm very excited about this. not just the prospect of doing nothing (because trust me, i do nothing very well on a regular basis) but the fact that there's no pressure, no appointments, really nothing other that i SHOULD be doing. these days don't come along very often... and well, let's just say that today, thursday is my very favorite day!

olivia's shirt.

so i found this really cute tshirt at the thrift store that said, "wanted: skater boy, love me or i'll leave you, must come w/ own board." only problem? it was a teeny bopper size, so with a few snips and a sewing machine, i turned it into a cute little dress for olivia. it was far from perfect, but it still looked cute over her little leggings. it was hard to get a picture of, but here's a shot that's not too bad :)

ignore her crazy hair; today was not a good hair day :)

olivia's blanket

i found this cute material at the market; it's actually a scarf that the women here wear on their heads; but i really liked the pattern and the fact that it was super soft and silky, so i decided to make a blanket for miss. olivia. i had some other fabric stashed at home that i had picked up at the thrift store for like $2.00. so the backing is this really soft suede like material. the whole thing probably took an hour to make (cutting, pinning, sewing, etc) i still would like to make a border, since my stitching still isn't the best, but overall i'm happy, and i think she'll love it!
here's a picture with the corner folded over so you can see the backing:

something to chew on at 6 am.

the thing that's so great about the past is it's inability to hurt us; at least in any way past the actual pain of the memories. time heals all wounds, and unfortunatley it also dulls us to the trauma that we may have once suffered. but sometimes all it takes is one reminder. one thing that comes back to haunt you to flood you with whatever it is you tried to escape.
i know you all assumed that my first post back would be about my new house, and instead here i am rambling. but i had a bad dream, and it sort of made me stop and just think about the peices of my life, and just my gratitude that i'm not in certain situations anymore. i think that sometimes we need to stop and remind ourselves to quit being so judgemental. we don't always know where other people are coming from, and how certain personal griefs have affected them. we all have reasons for being the way that we are. and if we took a minute to be a little nicer, a little more tolerant, maybe, just maybe the world might be a better place to live.
